Chicks Last Day And Farm Visit

For the chicks last day we took them outside on the grass to play...

Nap time! Too cute!!

First time on the grass...

They are only a week old today and look at their wing feathers already.  Soon they can fly...

Then it was then off to bring them off to the farm:  It is always such an adventure at the Brookfield farm with Farmer Matt (7th generation Laity Farmer) and Farmer Deanna.

Farmer Matt's newest addition was coming home with a Donkey... Farmer Deanna says most people come home with some extra goodies from the store... not a donkey!

Two Week Old Baby Rat... His eyes are still closed...

Their daughter's 4H Calf she shows...

Cows only have bottom teeth...

One of their show sheep... and Farmer Deanna weaves their wool...

The Donkey Farmer Matt came home with...

Looking at their lovely teeth... BRUSH YOUR TEETH KIDS!!!

One of their milking cows...

Here is where the milk goes twice a day and every two days a truck comes to pick it up...

They only get 17 cents per liter... a lot of work to make a living on the farm!

Feeding the cows grain!

Hay Ride!

Look we see Emma!!! They all call out...

The Yellow Barn is where our chicks went back too...

The Eggs Are Cracking!!!

I just stopped at our class on the way from my night class and now two eggs have started cracking.  Ms. Richmond and I even heard them chirp!!!  It was amazing!  I can't wait to see and hear them tomorrow.  Tomorrow will be hatch day!!!

We Planted Our Gardens

We planted Sunflower seeds in the courtyard!  Maybe we will have seeds in Sept.

We really found it interesting to discover how different all the seeds were.  If you have any extra seeds, please send them in as we would like to compare and dissect different seeds.

We sent home our pea plants for everyone to enjoy!

Our Park Adventure and Observations

Today was a beautiful day to go to the park.  The sun was shinning and the wind was blowing through the branches.  All the kids were excited.  We made lots of observations at each of our 'listening spots'.  Everyone was surprised to see how much growth had occurred from last week.  We were disappointed last week that the Trilliums that we were observing were gone :(  Fortunately we were able to find another one on the side of the hill.

"It looks like a sea horse"

"It is made of stars"
Spring is here... finally!
Seeds we found...

"It looks like a bell"
"Look at all the lines"

Measuring with the same stick and seeing how much it grows from week to week.
We found lots of Banana slugs!

How do they stick to the side of the tree????

"Here is our museum"

"We noticed our Trillium has turned purple and in the middle there is a green pod???"

"Look at the stem... it has a bend in it"

"We wonder if the small one beside the tall one will develop a flower too?"

The flowers have turned into green berries... we wonder what colour they will turn????
